Here is the much awaited video showing you how to upgrade the firmware on your CVS Craig 7″ Wireless Android Tablet.. I will show you step by step on how to do it.. there are a few things you need to know before you start.. You do this at your own risk.. please take the time to watch the video and familiarize yourself with the steps before you try this. If you never flashed a device before.. please be careful.. when i tell you to hold the Home and Power buttons.. DO NOT RELEASE at all until i tell you to.. doing so could BRICK your tablet.. With the warnings out of the way.. goto this site.. tinyurl.com then you choose which you want to do.. in my first video i used the 4.2 vers of android 2.1.. in this video i will be using 4.3 vers.. there is also a version of Android 2.2 Froyo which is .4.. some say locks up.. some have no problems.. in my case i will do that next after i play with 4.3 for awhile.. possibly another video.. who knows.. anyways.. download the software and the RKUtils.zip which contains the flash utility and the drivers for your tablet so your computer can see it. Make sure the first thing you do after downloading RKUtils.zip is to extract to a folder and go ahead and install the drivers.. i go over it real quck in the video but all you do is hold down Home and Power with your left hand then with your right hand plug in your usb cable to your computer and tablet.. then windows will find a new device and you just point it to the drivers folder that …

How do I upgrade the android system from 2.1 to a higher operating system?

@freakshowboy9 what? this piece of s***? c’mon get something better and more reliable. this thing will probably stop working after about two weeks and explode if you’re unlucky. get a blackberry playbook, apple ipad or samsung galaxy tab. at least those things wouldnt let you down. cheers mate

@tomdent474 thank you! i love blue tooth.. now i wonder if i can link my cell cam with the gpad…… ima find out when i get it
im buying one.. and deos it support blue tooth??
i checked some forums i frequent and only one person who said they tried it with no luck.. your best bet would search out a forum online that deals with the original craig like mine and post on there to get some help to see if anyone else has tried to root the B version
hello, i hope its ok that i message you, i watched your video on the Craig CMP738a and i thought it was a great tutorial, btu i have the new Craig CMP738b 7″ tablet instead of the one you shown in your video, im not scared of bricking this tablet, im just wondeing if you think your method will work for me, or if you have any advice for me with this tablet, thanks
If anyone has their screen quit.. i fixed my sons.. the ribbon for the touch screen had come loose from the lil pcb.. it was very tight stretch anyways.. looks like a bad design they should of put some kind of bend in the cable to give some play.. i stuck it back in and it works now
@BlueRidgeRuckus Yeah, that what I meant when I wrote “I WAS able to upgrade the unit to Froyo by downloading the file from Craig’s website”. That worked—no problem. I am now running Froyo. It just that the ROM mods by Shad and Flush DO require the Craig tablet connected to a PC using Windows to do their upgrade and root.

@yrag0001 – some people say you can do the same with the official firmware by putting it on microSD and then running it.. i have not tried this so i cannot confirm.. the one my son had died so i gotta get him a new one.. the touch screen no longer works.. it will boot but you cant control anything..
Hi, I’m a Mac owner of the Craig CMP738a.
I WAS able to upgrade the unit to Foyo by downloading the file from Craig’s website just fine, but I really would like to get it rooted and running optimally.
Does anyone know of a ROM mod that CAN be launched from a micro SD, given that the current two mods by Shad and Flush seem dependent on ‘rktools.zip’ which is Windows only?
Thanks.
DID IT WITH NO PROBLEMS BUT HAD TROUBLE DOWNLOADING FROM APP MARKET.(DOWNLOAD WAS UNSUCCESSFUL) GO TO SETTINGS-APPLICATIONS-MANAGEAPPLICATIONS-THEN MENU KEY (TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER)FILTER-ALL.–GO TO DOWNLOAD MANGER CLEAR CACHE/DATA AND UNCHECK UNKNOWN SOURCES BOX UNDER APP SETTINGS
why does the error message say unpackimage failed in flash utility? can you help on this?
@BlueRidgeRuckus The problem happened to me also. So I looked at the setting file in the same folder as the RKAndroidBatchUpgrader and the problem is that there is a line that has to be changed from “SUPPORTUSB11=0″ to “SUPPORTUSB11=1″. It fixed the problem for me, maybe it can do the same for you guys.
If you guys are still having trouble.. please make sure you are installing the drivers correctly.. in the video i had already installed the drivers.. however i did state that in the video and show you what you need to do.. there are tutorials on the web that give each step by step.. google is your friend
Hey when i hold the power and home button to out the drivers on i dont understand how you did it. could you tell me how to do it? or make a video on how to do it.
Thanks
I rooted my tablet yet the market says unsuccessful in downloading…did i mess up some where?
Im stuck on tryn to get the driver on the tablet. Plz someone help me ASAP
Hey the box is pink not green what do i do????
Thanks for the Video. I have attempted to install the upgrade into a never used Craig with a 2.1 OS, I got as far as getting to the upgrade window and have the green light in the first box of row 1. However, I cannot load Shads CMP-738a-update-2011-03-15-rls4.3.img from my folder. I get the following error message. “Getting Information of Boot file’s head failed”. Don’t know where to go from here after many attempts. Please advise.
Juvaone.
When I manually go to download drivers it doesn’t recognize, then using the hdwwiz it says I need a 32bit capability. So should I use the 86x file instead even though my processor is amd64?
I cannot get the drivers to install on my pc to begin the process
I did it thank you for all your help! I have one more problem hope you can help. I did all of this to get android market to get a game called pocket empires. I have downloaded game successfully but cant log in on tablet. Do I need something else that my phone has that the tablet doesnt have. Please help. Thanks again!
This is UNNECESSARY…Just rename the IMG file to ‘update.img’, copy it to a MicroSD card, then unmount and mount the card. It’ll start automatically.
No holding buttons like a tard.
@1221tweetybird – i have used the same technique 3 times myself.. as you can see by all the comments.. plenty of people have done this as well.. every step is there.. if you install the drivers.. and then follow the instructions it should work..
i try it and it doesnt work there is something missing in it thankz . But want ever you did doesnt work at all and i try it twice
Pretty straight forward
@XxYOOOZxX – you have to delete all cache and data.. if this still doesnt work.. i suggest looking on an android forum where they talk about the craig.. maybe they will have more success helping you.. i can only tell you my experiences.. and thats all i did to get it to work the 2nd time i flashed.. sorry
@blueridgeruckus its not working still and it said i have no 3rd partry applications
